A Message to Our Community

At Gender Justice Fund, we usually prefer to let our actions speak for us. However, as attacks on democracy intensify and institutions are caving in to pressure to reverse what little progress we've made towards a more inclusive, just, and sustainable world, we want you to know that we remain steadfastly committed to the fight for gender justice and to bringing all our resources unapologetically to the struggle for our collective liberation.

This commitment is not just to our mission but also to our selves; because we know that we are the ones we are fighting for.

We are Black and we are brown.

We are women and we are disabled.

We are trans and we are immigrants.

We are parents of school-aged children and we are elders.

We are queer and we are workers.

We are all in the crosshairs.

We call on our colleagues in philanthropy to stand up in this moment. Retrenchment, self-censoring, and appeasement will not protect you. As James Baldwin wrote to Angela Davis:

“if they take you in the morning, they will be coming for us that night.”
