4 actions you can take in the wake of the Dobbs decision

1. GET THE LEGAL FACTS

Abortion is still legal in PA, although there is technically no "safe haven" law. Our grantee Women's Law Project has a pending case in the PA Supreme Court that would enshrine the right to abortion in the state. Concurrently, anti-choicers are pursuing other avenues to ban abortion in PA. Learn more at the Women's Law Project website.

2. DONATE

Abortion funds will need your support now more than ever. In addition to grantee Abortion Liberation Fund PA, we encourage you to support Western Pennsylvania Fund for Choice, which will see a surge in demand from neighboring states like OH and WV as well as the National Network of Abortion Funds.

3. TALK ABOUT ABORTION

The ruling serves to further stigmatize a medical procedure that is already shrouded in judgment, guilt, and shame. Part of the work is normalizing abortion by being willing to talk about it. It is especially important to talk to young people as they have the least resources and will need to know they have an ally if they ever need help.

While the Dobbs decision was not wholly unexpected, it is nonetheless a devastating blow. We stand with our grantees, with advocates, activists, and providers, and most of all, with birthing people everywhere in staunch support of abortion on demand, without apology.

We encourage you to read the response from grantee Women’s Law Project, an organization that has been on the forefront of this fight for decades and was co-counsel in Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

Another grantee, Abortion Liberation Fund of PA, has put together an extensive toolkit for those of us in Pennsylvania.
